Twisted Mermaid, Bristol, 2008

Photography is very subjective, and I find it hard to distance myself from images I’ve taken. This is someone else you’ll probably be seeing a lot of, the wonderful Twisted Mermaid.

I fell in love with this shot as soon as I flipped it around while editing it. I love the tone and the shape and the symmetry, and also the slight kink in the right eye which breaks the clean ‘perfection’ of the shot.

Ms. Mermaid wasn’t so enamoured, however. Of course, models bring their own, different, subjectivity to the images when they look at them so I didn’t question her reaction.

I still love it though.
